"NOMAD CLUB" FOR JAPANESE LANGUAGE LEARNERS
AN ONLINE SUPPORT GROUP OFFERING FREE CHAT ROOMS
NOMAD CLUB is a group of volunteers who have been supporting Japanese language learners in Sapporo, Hokkaido. We offer chat rooms, private lessons and events for them.
We call our chat room 'Sawakai', which means 'tea party', a relaxed gathering where we drink tea, eat sweets and talk.
Chat rooms are held on a variety of platforms such as Zoom, Messenger Room, Twitter Space, whereby, etc. They are wandering tea parties that appear in various places on the internet.
If you are a learner looking for a place to try out the Japanese you have learnt, our chat rooms could be helpful to improve your conversation skills through fun chatting in Japanese.

Q1 There is no chat room in my level. Could I join a chat room in other level?A1 In a higher level chat room, you can't practice conversations that suit you. What kind of chat room will be held is different every month, so please wait for next month's schedule. If you have a request, please let us know using the form.

Q2 Can children participate in a chat room of NOMAD CLUB?A2 Join our chat room will be basically restricted to people aged 15 yrs and over*. If you are under 15 yrs, you can have a private lesson but not a chat room. Please join with your parents. When we cannot see your parent's face on the monitor during chat, you will be banned from the chat room. *In March 2022, the chat participation age was lowered from 18+ to 15+ to support students applying to university.

Level A : N1-N2 of JLPT
You can talk about general things and some technical things.
Level B : Lower N2- N3 of JLPT
You can talk about yourself, your family, your company, and so on.
Level C : N4-N5 of JLPT
You can talk about yourself.
